Wintering Well is a terrific book. The characters are wonderful, and the author does a great job of approaching a very difficult subject-physical disability-in a way that is moving and engaging. It's clear that the author did a lot of historical research, but the research never gets in the way of the writing or the story/5(3).
Wintering Well is told in two points of view (Common Core Standard,) Will’s, a boy who, as a result of a farm accident, has his leg amputated, and Cassie’s, his younger sister, whose journal entries begin each chapter, and who vows to take care of him.
